Mike Lazaridis is a Greek-Canadian
businessman,
Born in March 14, 1961 Istanbul,
Turkey. He enrolled at the University of
Waterloo in
electrical engineering with an option in
computer science. He is the founder of
BlackBerry,
BlackBerry Limited, formerly known as
Research In Motion Limited (
RIM). He created and manufactures the
BlackBerry wireless handset device. He served in various positions including
Co-Chairman and
Co-CEO of
BlackBerry. He founded
Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, where he also serves as
Board of Chairman. He is also a former
chancellor of the
University of Waterloo, and an
Officer of the
Order of Canada.
